Welcome to Caboolture Cruise & Travel
Welcome to Lapland, Finland’s northernmost region - a place that feels like stepping into another world.
For many of my clients, Lapland is one of those destinations that quietly sits on the bucket list until something - a photo, a story, a dream - pushes it to the top. After experiencing it myself, I can honestly say: the magic is real, and it’s waiting for you.
Let me take you on a journey through the highlights of Lapland - one that will leave you longing for warm mittens, fresh snowflakes on your nose, and nights spent watching the Northern Lights dance overhead.
Lapland wears many faces throughout the year, each more beautiful than the last. While most travellers are drawn to its winter wonderland (from October to March), when thick snow blankets the landscape and the Northern Lights swirl across the night sky, summer holds its own magic — with warm, light-filled days under the Midnight Sun, perfect for outdoor adventures and road trips.
During winter, the Arctic becomes a playground of icy enchantment. You can race across frozen lakes on a snowmobile, glide silently through forests on a dog sled, or take a reindeer sleigh ride, bundled under reindeer hides while the snow crunches beneath your feet. For the more daring, there's ice fishing, snowshoeing, or even fat biking over packed snowy trails.
But come summer, the land awakens in a different way. The sun never quite sets, casting a golden hue across the land 24 hours a day. It’s the perfect time to hire a car and explore at your own pace — through forests, beside rivers, and deep into Sami villages. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and surprisingly warm!

Of all the natural wonders I’ve encountered, nothing quite compares to seeing the Aurora Borealis for the first time. It’s almost impossible to describe — a curtain of light rippling across the sky, changing colour, form, and intensity as if it’s alive. In Lapland, the
chances of witnessing this phenomenon are among the best in the world, especially the further north you go.
One of the most memorable nights of my trip was spent lying back in a glass-roofed cabin, wrapped in woollen blankets, as the sky came alive above me. I didn’t even need to leave the room — just opened my eyes and watched in awe. Many accommodations offer aurora alarms to alert you when the lights appear, so you don’t miss a moment of the magic.
The accommodation in Lapland is part of the adventure. You’re not just booking a hotel — you’re choosing how you’ll experience this surreal landscape.
Inari Wilderness Hotel is a fantastic base for aurora chasing and offers a variety of cabins, including cosy log chalets and sleek glass-roofed rooms. It’s a great choice for families and couples alike.
For something truly unique, stay at the Arctic Snow Hotel near Rovaniemi. Rebuilt each year entirely from ice and snow, it’s like sleeping inside a work of art — complete with ice sculptures and a snow sauna. Don’t worry: there are also warm, glass-ceilinged igloos on-site if you prefer a toastier experience.
If you're after a more luxurious and private retreat, the Arctic Skylight Lodge offers stunning glass cube cabins nestled deep in the forest. With floor-to-ceiling windows facing north, these cabins are perfect for peaceful stargazing or watching the lights from your bed.
Does the room have a private bathroom? (Some ice hotels and igloos offer shared facilities.)
Does the glass ceiling or window face north? That’s where the Aurora is most likely to appear!

No trip to Lapland is complete without exploring the rich traditions of the Sami people, the only Indigenous people of the European Union. Their culture is closely connected to the land, reindeer herding, and the rhythms of nature.
One of the most profound experiences I had was listening to a live yoiking performance. Yoik is a traditional Sami form of singing - haunting, melodic, and powerful.
It’s not about lyrics; it’s about evoking the essence of a person, place, or feeling. It left me with goosebumps and a deep respect for the culture and its resilience.
You can learn more at the Siida Museum in Inari or even arrange a visit with a local reindeer herding family to hear their stories and enjoy a traditional meal.
Whether you’re travelling solo, with a partner, or bringing the whole family, Lapland has experiences to suit every kind of explorer:
Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi is a festive delight for all ages. You can visit Santa, cross the Arctic Circle, send postcards from the official Santa post office, and even bake cookies in Mrs. Claus’s kitchen.
Saariselkä is an excellent hub for winter sports — skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking — and for wellness seekers, don’t miss the chance to soak in a hot tub under the snow or try a traditional Finnish sauna.
Inari is the ideal destination for those chasing authenticity and the best views of the Northern Lights. It’s quieter, wilder, and offers a deeper connection to the Arctic’s true soul.
Lapland is surprisingly accessible, with multiple regional airports, including in Rovaniemi, Ivalo, and Kittilä. In summer, hiring a car is a brilliant way to explore at your own pace. In winter, guided tours and transfers are the best (and safest) way to move between destinations, especially with snow-covered roads.
As your travel advisor, I can help coordinate flights, transfers, and the best experiences tailored to your travel style — whether that’s a romantic Northern Lights escape or a multi-generational family Christmas adventure.
Lapland isn’t just a destination — it’s a feeling. It’s the hush of snow falling in a silent forest. It’s the warmth of a crackling fire after a day of sledding. It’s the thrill of seeing the Aurora for the first time and knowing you’ll never forget it.
If you’re dreaming of a holiday that feels like magic, with unforgettable experiences and scenery that belongs on a postcard, then Lapland is calling. Let me help you answer that call — and plan an Arctic journey you’ll cherish forever.
From glass igloos to reindeer rides, cultural connections to winter sports — we’ll create something truly magical.
