Having lived in Mackay for a few years, I’d visited Hamilton Island before — but never quite like this. This time, I experienced it through a whole new lens: as part of a vibrant team getaway that blended adventure, luxury, and laughter in the most unexpected ways. After the high-energy rally, we dialled things down with a guided tour of the incredible Qualia Resort - a name that’s synonymous with luxury in Australia. Set on the secluded northern tip of the island, this adults-only sanctuary feels worlds away from reality.

No trip to Hamilton Island would be complete without setting foot on Whitehaven Beach, and we saved the best for last.

Accessible only by boat, this seven-kilometre stretch of pristine white silica sand is one of the most photographed beaches in the world — and for good reason. The sand was so soft it felt like walking on flour, and the turquoise water was crystal-clear and calm, perfect for swimming or simply floating your cares away.

Some of us ventured out paddleboarding, others lazed in the shallows, and a few joined a friendly game of beach volleyball. It was the perfect final chapter — a tranquil contrast to the energetic start of our trip, and a moment to soak in just how special this place truly is.
